Welcome to Your Five A Day

Image Most people know the importance of eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. But we understand there's a lot more to feeling fitter, happier and healthier than this simple advice. We want you to look and feel great inside and out and we've got the resources and advice to help you. As well as information about diet and nutrition you can also find out about exercise and sport, sexual health and alternative therapies.

 
National Allotments Week
National Allotments Week runs from 11-17 August and is a great excuse, even if you haven't got an allotment, to get out doors and do some digging. Growing your own fruit and vegetables means you'll be getting the freshest produce available and is a great way of getting kids to learn about the importance of five a day. If you don't have access to some outside space why not sign up to an organic box scheme and support local farmers instead.
 
Splash Out!
In June the government announced that free swimming to all would be a legacy of the 2012 Olmpics. Swimming has many health benefits and can be enjoyed by people of all ages so why not get yourself down to your local pool this summer and practise a few lengths? To get you started take a look at our swimming tips and video tutorials and visit our swim shop for a selection of products including swimsuits and swimming trunks, goggles, hats, flippers and swim aids.
 
Smoothies
Smoothies are a great way to start the day - they're full of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients and are easily absorbed by the body. In the summer fresh fruit and vegetables are readily available and cheap so get into the habit of having a smoothie every day; an iced smoothie is a refreshing drink that will cool you down on a hot day. Shape up for Summer
Whether you want to lose weight in time for a summer holiday or the sunnier days are making you feel a lot more active we've got loads of ways to keep you healthy for summer.
